SERMON RESOURCES L.E.A.D. (Family Initiatives)

* Initiatives- The ability to decide what to do next and to do it without needing other people to tell you what to do. Information births initiatives, * Deut. 6:6-7.

Credit Dr. David Jeremiah. Ephesians 6:4/*Heb 11:23. Fathers/parent’s (Greek Pat-ayr) same words. So lets read again using parents.  Parents are cheerleaders and encouragers in a Christ walk, * Col. 3:21. Kids you are not off the hook. I’m about to ask your parents to lead but you have to have the humility and honor to follow, * Ephesians 6:3.  Now the LEAD family initiatives…

  • LET YOUR CHILDREN SEE YOUR WORSHIP
    • Children imitate until they can authenticate. Mary/Joseph/. In Luke 2, the 12 year old Jesus left the temple and something beautiful happened, *Luke 2:51-52.  David danced before the Lord to the shame of his wife. The judgment? No godly children.
    • Your undignified moment may be a lifted hand in surrender, responding to altar or letting tears flow down your cheek in worship. Let them witness your passion, Hannah prayed, early church prayed until they were accused of intoxication. A notable sinner woman poured a flask of expensive oil on Jesus, the world called is waste, and Jesus called it worship. How passionate are you? Does your worship leave a lasting impression on your kids? The good about the pandemic. Families worshiped together. Church is not a break form your kids. It can be a breakthrough for your kid! *Ps 78:4.
  • ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO LISTEN TO GOD
    • Anticipate God speaking to your child. 1 Sam. 3.  Samuel. Eli. “ Next time”, * 1Sam. 3:7; *1 Sam. 3:10.  Anticipate God is speaking to them.
    • They may not hear audible voice but they will hear Gods voice the same way you do. Through His word, creation, in worship, through people. Jesus is confident they can hear Him, * John 10:4
  • ASK THE LORD TO GIVE YOUR CHILD A RESPONSIVE HEART
    • Even if they don’t respond to you. The boy King Josiah, *2 Kings 22:19, “ Because your heart was responsive.” A revival of the land ensued, reading law, reform, re-instated Passover, Josiah’s heart, * 2 Kings 23:25. * 1 Chron. 29:19.
    • *Acts 2:17. They will never speak in the eternal words of Christ unless they respond to God. Matt 21, days before Jesus’ death, Children praising, enemy response, Jesus,   * Ps. 8:2; *Matt. 21:16.
  • DOUBLE- DOWN ON YOUR COMMITMENT TO YOUR FAMILY
    • Parental strategy can yield a child prodigy. Strengthen your commitment and strategy for the emotional/spiritual well being of your child. Mark 9. He wants to incinerate their hopes, drown out their dreams. Jesus, strong word for satan,  *Mark 9:42.
    • Parents employ strategy, * 2 Cor. 10:4. Your child has a free will and choice but you can declare along with Joshua, * Joshua 24:15.

L.E.A.D. ACTION STEPS:

(FAMILY INITIATIVES)

  • LET YOUR CHILDREN SEE YOUR WORSHIP
    • In most cases your child will mimic your worship and passion especially during their formative years.  There are ways to be intentional about demonstrating worship and service in the presence of your child.“ Let” is the key. As parents we are consumed at times with being a real life super hero’s instead of keeping a poverty of spirit that demonstrates a hunger and thirst for Gods touch of encouragement. Passion is as passion does. Respond in worship to God and give your child courage to as well. Ref. 1 Sam.1; Luke 7; 2 Sam.6. Utilize Ps 78:4 in your child’s life every opportunity.
  • ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO LISTEN TO GOD
    • You absolutely can anticipate God speaking to them. He loves to do that! Just ask Josiah, Samuel, Jeremiah and David. Just ask Mary, the young servant girl of Naaman in 2 Kings 5, and the little girl in Mark 5 Jesus raised from death!
    • Encourage your child to share with you and others what she heard in bible study, worship, and while serving in missions. Ask them what God is speaking through their academic, athletic and relational journeys. Ask them what they hear when they view a sea of waves, sunrise or sun set or a majestic mountain view. Pay close attention and celebrate the hearing of spiritual things in Christ.
    • Encourage them to Journal what they hear, date and time. Connect vision with provision.
  • ASK THE LORD TO GIVE YOUR CHILD A RESPONSIVE HEART.
    • Don’t take it personal at stages when they don’t respond to you. The Lord could be cutting apron strings and tool belt’s as they assume their own identity. At the end of the day they need to be obedient to God for life. Children are commanded to honor you for life but are not required to obey you for life. A habit of response is paramount to life.
    • Jesus said we don’t have because we don’t ask. James said we ask “amiss”. Lets get this right parent’s.  Ask the Lord to tenderize hearts.
  • DOUBLE-DOWN ON YOUR COMMITMENT TO YOUR FAMILY
    • Parents! Prodigy takes strategy. Be proactive. Respond instead of reacting. The warfare surrounding your child is vast. You must remember your battle is not against flesh and blood (people) but the evil spirit (satan, demons) behind people, according to Ephesians 6.
    • Fast, pray, choose a scripture and paste it on your child’s room mirror. Place scripture in their athletic bags, cars etc. Use acts of faith, anoint the threshold of their bedrooms with oil and declare them devoted to Christ! Rizphah 1 Sam. 21, (Read as metaphor of how to fight) and the Dad in Mark 9 are great inspirational reads for tenacity to fight spiritually for your kids.
